I was once living a life where I couldn’t wait for the day to end, clock watching at work, waiting for the next weekend to arrive.
My life has also always had amazing blessings, particularly my fantastic family and friends, but there have also been family breakdowns, employment uncertainty, close bereavements and devastating loss.
I lost my brother at the age of 42 and my wife at the age of 50, both to cancer. I found myself trapped by painful circumstances and patterns of behaviour leading to ways of thinking that made me unhappy and unfulfilled.
I had a successful corporate career, had risen within companies and been given management responsibilities. I was functioning at work and meeting my material needs in a beautiful part of the country but I was feeling increasingly depleted through anxiety and depression.
I realised that I needed to reappraise where I was in my life and make changes to survive and move positively forward.
I have explored, studied and trained to understand, manage and make those changes to make the most out of my life, get the most out of any circumstance and be the person I want to be, doing what I want to do.
In turn I have shared this knowledge with clients, family and friends in counselling, coaching and hypnotherapy sessions utilising various well-established therapy techniques and tools.
I believe all my life experiences positive and negative; make me a better counsellor and coach. I have the lived experience and empathy to utilise it for the benefit of others.
Counselling, coaching and helping others to live their life to the full and gain the fulfilment and happiness they are seeking is not something you can just do from reading and gaining qualifications. To counsel or coach having experienced a wide range of life events and emotions is critical in understanding a client’s feelings and beliefs whilst knowing how to help them make changes and how to get results. I have this experience.
The goals you set in life shouldn’t be too lofty. They should be attainable, actionable and forward-looking. Everyone gets side-tracked, but if you learn the value of proper goal-setting early on, the benefits will follow you throughout your life and career.
My personal journey of self-discovery and self-awareness continues to this day. You can’t always avoid life’s curve balls. What I have found, in a very personal way, is that you can change how you experience, understand and react to what life throws at you.
I can’t wait to begin, to accompany and help you on your journey.
